FO: Peppermint Twist Socks

I've been sick with the stomach flu the past couple of days, so I laid in bed and worked on my second sock.  I usually love fraternal twin socks, but this time, I tried really hard to begin and end the socks at the same points in the colorway.

I got the stripes pretty darned close.  I love how this pattern, Gusset Heel Basic Socks by Wendy D. Johnson, makes these cool hand stitching effects on the gusset with a self-striping yarn.  They look so homey - I LOVE IT!

I used the SpinningFates Toula Sock Yarn in Peppermint Twist colorway.  This is the first time I'd knit with this yarn and loved it.  This is a self-striping yarn with terrific color saturation and even color changes.  The base has a very mild halo and very nice, tight plying, allowing for very nice stitch definition.  These socks were a pleasure to knit up!

  1. They look wonderful and cozy and festive.

  2. I love them!! I want a pair for myself! Sorry to here you have been ill, hope your all better now.

  3. So sorry you have been ill. Especially this time of year! Love the socks they are about as perfectly matched as they can be. Hope you feel better.

  4. I was going all over your blog earlier and then I forgot to comment! Lol
I love the socks... do you ever do the two at a time pattern?

  5. They turned out great! I hope you are feeling better now.

I just ordered this yarn for my mom for Christmas! She is a HUGE lover of sock yarns and will love this! Thanks for posting about it!

  6. I love those socks! One day I will learn how to make my own socks!
