Quick Knit Tip: Project Bag

So I told y'all before how I LOVE to use the plastic zippered bags that comforters come in as a large project bag (Mainly for afghans).  Well today's tip is to use the spiffy Cotton/Poly Drawstring bag that the Target Room Essentials Easy Care Sheet Sets come in.  Super light weight.  Draw string - so no velcro closure to snag yarn.  Large enough to put a shawl project in it.  Can be popped in the washer & dryer.

Every year, we all get new sheet sets and this is a great way to repurpose the bag and get a project bag out of it.  Don't like it plain?!  You can embroider on it.  Sew some ribbon in different places around the bag to give it a bit of flair.  Get creative! :)

  1. I love those plastic zippered totes for yarn storage. I actually stumbled upon a bag just like the one shown recently and immediately thought "project bag!" i plan to embroider it as well, but good to know where exactly it came from! and hmm... i DO need new sheets ;)

  2. Thanks for the idea! I actually picked up a project bag in North Carolina earlier this summer. I hope it's okay to keep a few small projects in one bag (cause that's what I'm doing!) But I had never heard about using the plastic bags... I have a Hanes bag that was part of a swag gift from conference, it's backpack style and I've used it for everything else but a project bag. I checked out the post on using the bag from comforters and bed sets, DD just got a new set for her birthday and I'm planning on getting new ones for every bed by Christmas so I know what I'll be doing with the bags from now on! Thanks!!

  3. I use the "sheet bags" too! I love them!

  4. What a clever tip! And I think I need new sheets too...

  5. Hmmm...that's a great idea! I use those reusable shopping bags you get at the grocery store, but this seems like a better way to store a project.

  6. What a great idea. I have one of those sitting in my closet. Now I know what I can do with it.
