Knitter's Pride is a NEW line of knitting needles available from WEBS! Available in fixed circular or interchangeable circular needles and in wood or nickel plated brass, Knitter's Pride needles are sure to provide an option for most knitters at an affordable price.
Kathy over at WEBS provided me with (1) each of the Knitter's Pride Dreamz and the Knitter's Pride Nova fixed circular needles to take for a test drive.
The Knitter's Pride Dreamz collection is WEBS premiere Birch wood knitting needle collection. I found the needles to have more drag than a nickel plated needle, but to be just as smooth as any wood needles I've knit with. As I knit with the Dreamz needles, I found the needles to be warm to the touch and have increased glide with use. The fixed needles (and it looks as though the interchangeable as well) have two join points: 1 between the needle shaft and the metal and another between the metal and the cord. I did have a slight drag issue over the join where the needle meets the metal, but only occasionally, and I suspect, because I am a very tight knitter. I had no snag issues with the needle shaft itself. The needles have a medium point tip that I had no issues knitting fingering weight yarn with. I found the cord to have a sturdy, fixed join and to perform well while knitting in the round with magic loop. The cord is pliable and flexible, but not floppy. The Dreamz needles have the size (in US & Metric) printed in white on the wood needle itself and also in black on the metal between the needle and the cord. I really like that the sizes are printed ON the needles! I also like that the wood needles come in a different color for each size. -Both are extremely helpful in nabbing the correct needle size quickly.
The Knitter's Pride Nova collection is WEBS premiere nickel-plated brass tipped knitting needle collection. The needles are slick and smooth, providing almost no drag and amazing glide. I found the needles to perform as well as Knit Picks Options and Addi Needles. The fixed (and interchangeable) needles have 1 join point - between the end of the needle and the cord. The needles have a medium point tip and the cord is the same as the Dreamz needles. I used the Nova circs to knit a worsted weight mitt in the round, via magic loop and have no issues whatsoever. The needles were a pleasure to work with. The needle sizes are printed in black on the needle shaft, making locating the correct needle size fast and easy.
Overall I really liked these needles. They are enjoyable to knit with and are exceptionally affordable.

Totally coveting their double pointed set with socktoberfest in mind! Would also love to win a dreamz interchangable set :)
ReplyDeleteAlso like the detail of your review, I've found some wooden needles have less glide after use.

Both the interchangeable circs and the DPNs look nice to me.
ReplyDeleteI haven't worked with wooden needles very much at all. I'd love to try some out. Maybe I'll start with the DPN set!
ReplyDeleteAnd just joined your Ravelry group too!

And I'm following you on Twitter! Just started tweeting, so I'm keen to get into it. :)
ReplyDeleteYou just don't know how much I enjoyed this post. I have been drooling over the Nova interchangeable set for weeks. My interchangeable needle set is 45+ years old (Boye) and in mint condition, but the cords are thick and the needles don't stay tight on the cords - and the new cords don't work well on my old points. I have purchased some individual pieces from WEBS, but would love to have the whole set.
ReplyDeleteI have been coveting the Knitters' Pride loot since before Knitters' Pride was around. The same items were/are on a European site called KnitPro. I love them all - Dreamz (hello colors!) interchangeables and crochet hooks. The Novas are sleek and beautiful. And comparably very affordable.

ReplyDeleteI am dying over the Dreamz interchangeable set! Thanks for the review~ especially about how they fared with magic loop. I am shopping for a set for my daughter. I figured I would just get her a set of Knit Picks Harmony (like I have), but I may need to consider these. I love how each size has its own color. And they are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Love these needles! I want to check out the cubics interchangeable set too!

ReplyDeleteKnitter's Pride Dreamz Interchangeable Needles because I have yet to find and set of interchangeable's that I like.
ReplyDeleteI've been drooling over those Dreamz interchangable circular needles since I saw them in the WEBS catalog. I find metal needles too slippery for me as a knitting newbie, and have been using bamboo whenever I can, so I think I'm a wooden needle knitter.
ReplyDelete(Also, I follow your blog via Google Reader--does that count?)
i love the colors for the double points! great sock knitting needles.
ReplyDeleteI've been dying to try out a square needle, and these new sets might encourage me to actually do just that!

ReplyDeleteI LOVE the KP double-pointed needles. They have a great feel in the hand and they help with the speed of knitting without being so "slick" that you risk the stitches slipping off, as with metal needles. I've been slowly replacing my other DP's with these. Would love to try the interchangeables!
ReplyDeleteCubics interchangables!!! I have a fixed pair and absolutely love them.. Thanks!

ReplyDeleteAfter looking around the WEBS Knitter's Pride page I think, of the two you are offering I would pick the Dreamz interchangeable set, but if I had my choice of any I would probably go with a set of Dreams dpns or even the Cubix dpns (even though there is no set yet). My dpns are terrible!

ReplyDeleteLove the dreamz set and the fact the sizes are printed on the needle tips and they're light and different colors, I've got a set of Knit Picks and the dark color makes them tough with dark yarns and you must have a sizer handy.
