Alrighty, so I joined ANOTHER Mystery KAL. This time I joined the Knitting Like Crazy Mystery Medallion Shawl KAL on Ravelry. Clue #1 was just released Friday. I cast on yesterday and completed the 70 rows or so. I really do like this KAL so far. Clue #1 was really 2 alternating rows with the medallion pattern in the center. So, it was a great combo of mindless knitting with a little lace panel in the center to make it interesting. I could NOT put it down! The only problem? When I completed the last row, I counted my stitches and came up with 161 total stitches. That's 4 stitches off of the end count of clue #1, 165. Which means - Somehow I did not complete the increases on a right side row somewhere along the way. Unfortunately it's not immediately obvious by looking at it to me. So I have no idea where my mistake lies. I think I'm going to have to fudge this one a bit to add back in the 4 stitches since I'm positive there's a reason the ending stitch count was mentioned on clue #1. At any rate, I put out a HELP thread on the Ravelry Group Discussion Board to get some suggestions from the mod and the other knitters. I AM NOT FROGGING THIS PUPPY AND STARTING AGAIN. ;p The only other thing I can think of is that Chart A in the pattern has to be repeated a second time in Clue #1. But the pattern says: Repeat rows 3&4 until Chart A is repeated twice. Which, to me says that you knit rows 1-4 in the the first pattern repeat. Then rows 5-28 of the first repeat are just repeats of rows 3 & 4. When I started the 2nd repeat, I just knit rows 3 & 4 (excluding Rows 1 & 2 for the 2nd repeat, because of the way it was worded). Perhaps I was supposed to start with row 1 on the repeat and hence, I lost the 4 increase stitches there.
I'm knitting this up with Louet Gems Fingering Wt. yarn in Storm Cloud Colorway (a really LIGHT gray). I LOVE-LOVE-LOVE the feel of this yarn. And of course I am knitting with a pair of my lux Signature Needles. So this is truly a sensory sensation for me!
Well, hopefully I'll get the increases all figured out so that by the time Clue #2 is released, I'll be ready to keep on knitting!
UPDATE: I WAS supposed to incorporate rows 1 & 2 in the repeat. Ah-ha! Tinking back 25 rows to correct problem! YAY! No fudging! My shawl will be perfect! :)
