So this past Friday, while pondering my options in the pasta isle at my local grocery store, I started to have heart palpitations, become sweaty, experiece a dull ache over my chest, a headache, and light headedness.  I sat down in the restaurant area, had a glass of water, and took deep breaths.  I walked over to pharmacy and took my BP and heartrate which was 146/86 L arm and 122 BPM.  I called my doc who sent me to ER.  By the time I got there, my BP was 150/90 and my heartrate was 140.  They followed standard protocol.  I was given oxygen 2 liters, Nitropaste, and a bag of fluids.  My pressure came down but my heart rate remained elevated.  The ER Doc thought it would be best if I had a stress test the next morning.  So I was transfered by ambulance to the main hospital's Critical Decision Unit where I was hooked up and had blood work and vitals signs taken all night long.  I was up bright & early for my stress test.

Conclusion - My bloodwork looks awesome!  I have no evidence of any cardiac disease.  So speculation is that the paroxysmal tachycardia is related to my history of paroxysmal tachycardia from 8 years ago when I was diagnosed and prescribed calcium channel blockers to help keep the tachycardia under control.    SO -nothing that is going to kill me!!  Just an annoyance that requires some meds. :)

During this entire time, I had such an outpouring of love and support from my family, my friends, my social media family..  I feel so blessed and cared about.  Thank you to everyone who sent me messages of well wishes.  That was really so sweet and thoughtful.

Basically, I need to just take it easy when these episodes occur.  But otherwise, life will go on.  And praise be to God for my relative health.  And I can't say enough prayers to thank God for my family and close friends who called my DH & I to check on me.  Even today, I received several calls from caring and concerned friends and family.  I don't care what you have in your life, but if you don't have that kind of love and support, you're missing out!!

Good Family.  Good Friends.  Good Health.  Good Life.  Good Yarn.  I am so truly blessed and needed to yell it from the rooftops! :)

  1. Karrie, I am so glad this was nothing too serious! Take care of yourself!

  2. Gurl, Wow! You do need a Home Spa Day. So sorry to ear about your scare; and I'm glad to hear you are OK.

  3. So glad you are okay. Take some time for yourself and rest.

  4. I'm a nurse and I thank you for seeking medical attention. The symptoms can be so confusing and potentially scary. Thanks for still being here.

  5. Oh that is such a relief. You have been in my thoughts and prayers all weekend. I'm so glad you had it checked out. Definitely take care of yourself! There is only one you! And I concur... it's time for a spa day. Or a vacation!
