Every Knitter Needs a Mindless Project

I have A LOT of WIPs, but I needed a good, mindless knit: something that is functional and stylish, but has a pattern that is easy to memorize and doesn't require huge amounts of concentration.  In between knitting my lace and projects I need to concentrate on, I needed a project to fiddle with when I want to knit but either don't have the necessary concentration or want to be able to juggle 2 things at once.  I have found that pattern and I cast it on tonight: Featherweight Cardigan by Hannah Fettig.  I am knitting it with yarn from stash: Knit Picks Stroll Tonal Sock Yarn in Canopy colorway.  It fulfills all of my mindless knitting requirements.  It's a great project for knitting while watching tv or knitting at knit group.  And I think I will like knitting it in between my more advanced projects.

  1. I finished the knitting on my featherweight a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, blocking has been delayed. I I have to block it because I ended up with lace on the body! Don't ask how or why, but it will be great! It is in navy lace weight cashmere.

  2. ;) Every Crocheter needs a mindless project also :)

  3. I seriously need a mindless project! I've been stuck with a lace project for a while. I think the next one will be a ribbed scarf or something.

I loved making the Featherweight Cardigan. In fact, I was wearing it today! Enjoy!

  4. JustThreadTwiddling - I was considering doing lace on the collar. Lace cashmere? Ahhh... divine!

RenJac - Absolutely! I'm still learning crochet. So there aren't any mindless projects for me . So far I lurve it! I can't wait to get more proficient!

Adriene - I see so many have knit it and love it! I can't wait to finish it now! :)

  5. I really enjoy her patterns! Still haven't knit any yet. :) just have a ton of them in my queue.

  6. Agreed! My mindless project is the Gynnedd Hat from the latest Knit Scene. While it won't last too long being only a hat it is an easy pattern to memorize and knitting in the round makes it even more simple. I may have to try that cardi pattern!

  7. We all need to take our mind off things once in a while and a mindless project is the best way to do it!
