My grandma was a breast cancer survivor for 13 years. Just a few weeks ago, she lost her battle with cancer (cancer that had stemmed from uterine cancer she was diagnosed with in 2008). And in her honor, I'd love to reach out to the knitting community and find out what everyone is knitting or crocheting to honor breast cancer survivors or to just further the cause of breast cancer awareness. If you have blogged something you've knit or crocheted OR blogged a breast cancer awareness pattern you designed and would like to share - please link up. (These can be projects/designs from past years.)
For those of you, like myself, looking for a pattern to knit, I've compiled a list of some great free patterns - so check 'em out!

I am thinking pink especially for October. I am working on a shawl to be donated to our local Breast Cancer Unit at our local hospital.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to do a few other projects in pink too, but I am learning as I go, re-learned knitter here after a long absence. So I'm excited that I am getting back into knitting and re-learning as I go.
I have to check out the links you have posted - thank you for doing that. You ROCK! or KNIT! ;)
KPG,
ReplyDeleteWell this is my first visit to your site and I cannot knit that is a fact.
Moreover it is a visit from a link in regards to breast cancer. I lost my 'adopted jewish' grandmother late last year to breast cancer, she was battling it for many years. Every year I try to help out individuals/teams, typically playing in a charity golf tourny here in the valley.
Every story is unique, special, and always sad. So here's to your grandma, I bet she was a charm! Cheers!
Peas Out!
