All hail the Yarn Harlot and other news

I am absolutely amazed by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee! I watched a video of her using her Irish Cottage Knitting Method and fell in love with this method! Now if I can slow her down even more through the virtues of video editing, I will master this technique! I just reserved some of her books at the library (sorry for not buying them Stephanie, I'm a poor knitter). I think she's fabulous. If you haven't checked out her blog, Yarn Harlot, you absolutely must do so!

In other news.. I visited Studio Knit in Medina, OH over the weekend and would like to say that I could so live there! Since my LYS is closing, I had to seek out another yarn home. I think I may take some classes there to expand my knitting... They have an intarsia class and a knitting techniques class that I am interested in. I'd also like to take a sock class. Heck, who am I kidding? If I could I would take every class that was offered. What knitter wouldn't?

Still trying to figure out how to weave in the ends on the purl shawl I am knitting. So far, I haven't found something that will work. So for now, this project is on hold. (It's getting pretty crowded on my UFOs shelf.)

Home with the littlest munchkin today and trying to decide to knit or clean the house. The house looks like it has been abandoned and I feel guilty for not attending to it. But on the other hand, I haven't gotten to knit in over a week now and I'm feeling anxious. I read a quote once,

The only place where housework comes before needlework is in the dictionary. ~Mary Kurtz

  1. I'll be using that quote in the future for sure! The harlot knits very quickly, I didn't realize she had a video out.

  2. Yes, the Harlot is quite the knitting guru! I have yet to see her speak in person, but look forward to the day I can!

  3. Thanks to your introduction I've become addicted to the Yarn Harlot's blog. I've almost finished reading the archives (from 2004-today) and I'm certain that my husband thinks I've lost my mind. "A knitting blog???!!" My baby is quite neglected! Ü

No, in fact, the babies (present and coming-in-July) are benefitting in the form of knitting. That Steph is a bit inspiring, isn't she? I've got sock wool, now...!
